Marriage Counseling & Couples Therapy in Panama City, Florida

Have you been feeling like you can’t connect with your partner in the way that you used to? Whether it’s because of broken trust or busier schedules, you feel like you are rarely on the same page. Maybe there’s been a big change in your lives and you feel like you need your partner now more than ever - but you can’t seem to stop arguing. You love your partner, but communicating your needs always leaves you feeling like a burden.

Couples therapy is a place where you can learn the skills, feel your feelings, and establish healthy habits to get your relationship back to where you want it to be.

What you can expect from couples therapy

  • Gottman Relationship Checkup Questionnaire

Created by the founders of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, this questionnaire helps to pinpoint the areas of growth within your relationship. This questionnaire and a detailed assessment of answers are included in the price of your sessions.

  • Work with your partner towards a common goal

Want to get to the bottom of the “core issue” in your relationship? Together, we’ll develop a shared definition of the problem to help you and your partner work towards a common goal.

  • Treatment planning from a relationship expert

Treatment plans are uniquely tailored to the personalities, needs, & values of each individual client! Each goal we set will be accompanied by objectives and interventions to help you achieve those goals.

  • Weekly assignments that strengthen your relationship

“Homework” will often be assigned towards the end of the session and then reviewed at the beginning of the following session. This will often be in the form of activities to do together, topics to discuss, or habits to change. Most of what you get out of therapy is the work you put in outside of the session!

  • Receive custom handouts & info sheets

Do you enjoy having something you can read later while at home? You’ll receive a physical or digital copy of helpful tips and psycho-education relating to what we are working on in treatment. We also have handouts relating to a wide variety of mental health topics.

  • Learn how to establish healthy patterns of communication

When there’s a reoccurring issue, the “quick fix” is often to resolve the issue at the surface-level. When the problem continues to happen, it means the issue is most likely in the behaviors leading up to the problem, the assumptions we make about our partner’s actions, or unresolved trauma. We’ll help you to learn what healthy communication patterns look like in your relationship and how to break the negative communication cycle.
